Welcome to the latest episode of Lunch with Shelley with today’s special guest Nneka Chiazor. Nneka is the President and CEO of the Public Affairs Council, which is the premier global association for public affairs professionals. Nneka made history in January of 2025 when she accepted her leadership position, because she became the first woman and person of color to lead the Public Affairs Council in its 70-year history.
Prior to joining the Public Affairs Council, Nneka served as Market Vice President for Cox Communications in Hampton Roads, VA, where she led a $1.2 billion market and oversaw more than 1,200 employees, among several other positions. As a committed civic leader, Nneka has served on boards including the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, the Hampton Roads Military and Federal Facilities Alliance, and Global Traveler magazine. She also served as an appointed Commissioner for the City of Virginia Beach Economic Development Authority.
Join us at our back booth at the Capitol Grille, alongside Claude and Fran McMahon, for a terrific conversation about Nneka’s incredible background and how she ended up leading the Public Affairs Council, what it means to be in public affairs these days, how to elevate the public affairs profession, and much much more!
